Reopening of the Lenbachhaus
The Städtische Galerie at the Lenbachhaus, which is native to the Künster Villa Franz von Lenbach establishes its reputation as an internationally important museum in one of the world's largest collections of works by the "Blauen Reiter" in which among other works by Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, August Macke, Gabriele Münter and Alexej Jawlensky are represented. In addition to this collection focus, the Lenbachhaus Munich shows paintings of the 19th century.
The Lenbachhaus presents itself for the reopening in a striking new guise. After four years of construction, the building appears transformed on the outside as much as the inside; the most conspicuous new feature is the facade clad in brass-colored metal. Then the Städtische Galerie at the Lenbachhaus will literally shine in a new light, because a special lighting for exhibition spaces was developed. So the Lenbachhaus will set new quality standards in museum lighting for art museums. It is Germany's first museum which will use advanced LED technology as comprehensive.
